Training to help businesses across Northern Ireland prepare for the Open Championship by improving their customer service skills.

Tourism NI, in partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College, Northern Regional College and North West Regional College, is hosting a number of free customer service training sessions in Belfast, Derry~Londonderry, Portrush and Coleraine.

With visitor numbers set to increase in Northern Ireland this summer, due to the attraction of golf's Open Championship taking place in Portrush in July, this training will help local businesses enhance their customer service skills to deliver a warm, generous, and hospitable welcome.

Who is the training for?

These courses are open to anyone working in a customer service or customer-facing role within the Northern Ireland tourism and hospitality sector.

Courses will be delivered in person, and learners must be available to attend for the full duration of the session they have registered for.

Customer service training course details

Belfast training courses

These training sessions will be delivered by the Belfast Metropolitan College at the Stormont Hotel in Belfast.

  • Tuesday 27 May 2025 - 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday 27 May 2025 - 1pm to 4pm

Derry~Londonderry training courses

These training sessions will be delivered by the North West Regional College at the Millennium Forum in Derry~Londonderry.

  • Wednesday 28 May - 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Monday 2 June 2025 - 2pm to 5pm

Portstewart training courses

These training sessions will be delivered by the Northern Regional College at the Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart.

  • Wednesday 4 June - 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Wednesday 4 June 2025 - 1pm to 4pm

Coleraine training courses

These training sessions will be delivered by the Northern Regional College at the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine.

  • Tuesday 10 June - 9:30am to 12:30pm
  • Tuesday 10 June 2025 - 1pm to 4pm
